Crown and Bridge Options

CROWNS OR BRIDGES ENHANCE THE APPEARANCE OF TEETH

Crowns, or dental caps, or bridges are used for both restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Crowns or bridges can help enhance the visual appearance of discolored, chipped or otherwise traumatized teeth, and can also be used to rebuild teeth that have suffered decay, breaks, or other issues that have caused them to lose strength.

Unlike composite fillings, dental inlays, or dental onlays—which fill or cover only a portion of a tooth– a crown is a type of dental restoration intended to cover the entire tooth from the gum line up. Cemented onto your natural tooth, a crown effectively serves as your tooth’s new surface because it completely covers your natural tooth.

Crowns or bridges can be fashioned from a variety of materials including gold alloy, porcelain or ceramic, or even a combination of both!

ITS A SIMPLE PROCEDURE

Dr Bunt first removes the decay and any weakened part of the tooth and shapes it to allow the porcelain shell to fit down over. Next we take a digital impression of the tooth using our TRIOS digital scanner which saves you time and money. This impression will be sent to the lab for fabrication of the permanent crown or bridge. a temporary crown is made for you to wear until the permanent crown or bridge is back from the laboratory.

CROWNS & BRIDGES ARE HIGHLY DURABLE AND WILL TYPICALLY LAST MANY YEARS

Crowns and bridges are strong and generally last for about 10 years or longer if you take good care of them. Brush and floss your crown daily, just like you clean your natural teeth.

Dr Bunt will provide you with additional information on your crown options, including guidance on which type of material would work best for you! Our dental team is always ready to book your dental crown or bridge appointment. Call today 613-392-4757 for your consultation.
